Visions of Wintersday: Winners announcement!
**Note: Due to a lack of submissions in two of the categories and a larger amount of submissions in the OC category, we have decided to award two prize packs in the latter. The remaining fourth prize pack will be kept for a future contest.**
It has been almost two months since we announced our Guild Wars 2 Wintersday art contest Visions of Wintersday. The judges have looked over the entries this past week and decided on our winners. As a reminder, each winner will be awarded the following prize pack.
- Set of Guild Wars 1 Pins
- Guild Wars 2 Mouse mat
- Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire Lanyard
- Guild Wars 2 concept art signed by its artist
- 1600 gems
Without further ado, here they are.
Jona W.
The defiant stance and general attitude of this mini charr effigy perfectly encapsulates the tone of Josh's prompt "Minis". The size comparison only added to the uniqueness of Jona's piece. The simplicity in its adaptation of the prompt and nod to wintersday made it a winner for us.

Allison A.
The complexity of Allison's piece made it stand out to the judges. Mounts are incredibly detailed in-game and this rendition of the Shiverpeaks Jackal exemplifies this fact perfectly. Here is the poem that accompanied Allison's original piece.
"The winter’s heart protects those who have given their own to spread Wintersday’s cheer.
Those who slumber peacefully dream of hopes for the day with no nightmares to fear.
There is a shadow that walks the streets with twisted horns cold as ice that cast a frosty glow.
The cold won’t bother her as she is from the lands of ice and snow.
Dressed in Wintersday’s red and white she may make a fearsome sight.
Her companion will sniff out those who wish to make mischief this night.
Beware the shot in the dark from the one cloaked by snow.
For if you try to steal or wreck this festive holiday she shall know.
The chill of winter has a stinging bite that is worse than its bark in a fight.
Death is the gift she shall give to any who will face against her might.
Come the morning light she shall gather to hand out presents and treats.
And entertain the children with stories of all her wondrous feats."

Linda B.
Linda's Wintersday card was chosen for its originality and its attention to details. Coupled with the story below, this piece embodies the spirit of Wintersday. The added New Krytan was a nice touch that the judges loved.
"It was a night much like any other in the Bwulfsson's banquet hall except this time it was the Wintersday party.
Much to Minty’s delight the decorations were put up and snowmakers were dancing close to the ceiling. Large ice castle walls were temporarily constructed to make a cozy castle igloo. There were tables lining the walls with some good old apple cider, hot chocolate with marshmallows, and some eggnog.
Fálki Bwulfsson, true to his norn nature was sending out mail carriers to the guild members with drunken messages scribbled on paper.
At some point Thauma, their sylvari elementalist friend must have joined, however much memory of the day is lost except for a small photograph that was taken with their Wintersday gifts. Complete with Minty’s Favourite Choya Pinata plush, Fálki with his custom-made Wintersday Griffon sweater. And lastly, smiling brightly, Thauma with his obsession quenched,
holding a quaggan mug with the sweetest hot chocolate his leafiness could ever imagine."
